The Russian House in Uzbekistan to partner in the two countries' reciprocal Days in 2027
A delegation from the National Centre RUSSIA, led by its Director General, Natalia Virtuozova, paid a working visit to the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan on 16 October. The Head of the Russian House in Tashkent, Irina Staroselskaya, gave the guests a tour. The meeting focused on discussing the programme for the reciprocal Days of Russia and Uzbekistan, which will be held in both countries in 2027.
The Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova, noted that Rossotrudnichestvo's representative offices around the world and the National Centre's venues in Moscow and other Russian regions share a similar mission. They serve as instruments of soft power and help build a positive image of Russia by showcasing its rich and diverse culture, centuries of history and contemporary achievements.
"We have an ongoing partnership with Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Houses. It is important to us that next year, when we celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, the Russian House in Tashkent will be our partner in holding the two countries' reciprocal Days. We discussed the formats of our cooperation in detail. I am confident that this project will enable us not only to preserve our shared history but also to build a shared future for our peoples," Natalia Virtuozova emphasised.
Continuing the discussion, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Irina Staroselskaya, emphasised that the Russian House in Tashkent seeks not only to introduce people in Uzbekistan to Russian culture but also to encourage mutual interest, respect and stronger friendships between peoples. She said that new joint projects would highlight shared traditional values and provide additional opportunities for citizens, including through joint events during the reciprocal Days of Russia and Uzbekistan.
"Tashkent is, after all, a Russian-speaking city. But people in the regions also understand that life is very difficult without Russian. Even parents who do not speak the language themselves enrol their children in European groups so they can learn Russian. Contemporary Russian culture is in great demand here in Uzbekistan," Irina Staroselskaya stressed.
The meeting between the National Centre RUSSIA team and the staff of the Russian House in Tashkent was part of a working visit devoted to discussing the long-term prospects for cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two states. During the series of events, the National Centre RUSSIA and the Islamic Civilisation Centre in Uzbekistan signed a supplementary agreement to the Memorandum of Cooperation on organising reciprocal Days of Russia and Uzbekistan, which has been in effect since April 2026. Among other provisions, the agreement envisages the joint development of a roadmap for projects and events to be implemented over the forthcoming three-year period from 2027 to 2030. Experts, scholars and distinguished figures in culture and the arts from both countries will help develop and deliver the roadmap's events. The Russian House in Tashkent will be one of the key partners in the reciprocal Days of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The Russian House in Tashkent — the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan — has worked in cultural and humanitarian cooperation, education, science and youth initiatives for a quarter of a century. Its venue brings together people in Uzbekistan interested in learning Russian, exploring Russian culture and history, and developing professional and educational ties with Russia.
Preparations for reciprocal days of culture between Russia and Uzbekistan will offer an opportunity to revisit the two countries' shared history.
Russia celebrates Father's Day on the third Sunday of October. Although introduced relatively recently, it has already become a cherished family occasion.
