"The most important investment of the region is in education" – the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region

The most important investment of the Chelyabinsk region is in education, which forms the foundation for the region’s successful future development. This was stated by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexei Teksler, during the series "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps" held at the National Centre RUSSIA.

"The most important investment is the investment in education. Yes, it yields results later, but it forms the foundation for the region’s successful development in the future. We have done a lot in this area: over the past five years, we have built 63 new kindergartens, this year we will open five more, and have constructed 20 schools, with several more to be completed by the end of the year. We have big plans for the future," Alexei Teksler emphasised.

According to the governor, the construction of these facilities is essential for improving the quality of education. New institutions are being built not only in developing districts but also in those where older buildings need replacement.

"In Chelyabinsk, we will implement the project of an advanced school — a separate initiative. It will be like a campus, but in the field of general education. However, our main project is the university campus. In fact, I always say that it is a new university. It includes dormitories for 3,500 students and a modern research and educational environment for 5,000 people, who will be able to study and work in laboratories. It will become a major centre of attraction," he added.

The world-class inter-university campus in the Chelyabinsk region is one of the region’s key projects. It is part of the national project "Science and Universities" implemented under the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Six leading universities of the region will join within the campus: Chelyabinsk State University, South Ural State University, the Agrarian and Medical universities, Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, and the International Institute of Design and Service. The campus will become a centre for science, innovation, and modern interdisciplinary education — a hub not only for students and researchers but also a contemporary public space for residents of the city. The educational process at the campus will begin in 2027.
