Surprises for family and friends: guests of the National Centre RUSSIA learned to create New Year magic at festive workshops
A series of festive workshops continued on 28 December at
the National Centre RUSSIA. Guests were able to create New Year wreaths from
natural materials with their own hands, produce an author’s version of a
transparent Christmas bauble, and learn exclusive ways to style a festive
family table.
During the workshop on decorating a transparent Christmas
bauble, participants created elegant tree ornaments under the guidance of an
experienced craftsperson. Each participant received a transparent glass bauble
base and filled it with winter magic using decorative branches and berries. As
a result, everyone took home their own small masterpiece, which could be given
to friends or hung on a home Christmas tree.
"I came here specifically to make a New Year gift for
my friend. It turned out very heartfelt and personal — you definitely cannot
buy a bauble like this in any shop," said workshop participant Darya.
At the workshop on festive table setting in the à la russe
style, visitors were told who is considered the founder of this style and what
distinguishes this type of table setting. Participants received individual
recommendations on how to decorate a festive table, and in the practical part
of the workshop they tried arranging cutlery, plates, and glasses themselves.
"I have always wanted to learn how to set a table with
a special meaning. Now I understand that even a different arrangement of
tableware can highlight the festive atmosphere. This workshop opened up a whole
new world for me," admitted a guest of the National Centre RUSSIA,
Yekaterina, a mother of two.
The workshop on creating a New Year wreath introduced participants to the basics of working with natural materials and finishing completed pieces. Participants mastered the skills of creating a sturdy base and harmonious compositions from conifer branches, and complemented their creations with New Year decorations. The practical session was preceded by a brief introduction to the history of wreaths in Rus’.
"I have bought New Year wreaths in shops many times,
but I never thought I would be able to make one like this myself. It turned out
that it is possible when there is a good craftsperson and an inspiring
atmosphere," shared her impressions Anna, a participant in the creative
workshop.
The series of pre-New Year creative sessions at the National
Centre RUSSIA will continue on 30 December, the last working day of the
outgoing year, as well as during the New Year holidays. Come along with the
whole family to create a magical atmosphere without which it is impossible to
imagine the main winter celebration. The current schedule of workshops and
other events is available on the russia.ru website in the "Events"
section.
On Monday, 29 December, the National Centre RUSSIA will hold its final maintenance day of the year.
One of the leading roles in the production was performed by Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina Kristina Kretova.
The "Morozko" performance is designed for audiences of all ages and will be engaging for children, grandparents, mothers, and fathers alike.
