Stanislav Drobyshevsky — on how men and women perceive beauty
Men and women perceive beauty differently. While men tend to see beauty in things that already exist and treat aesthetics as something given, women more often look for ways to improve — analysing, criticising and mentally refining an image. This was explained by anthropologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University and leader of the science popularisation movement "Drobyshevsky Projects", Stanislav Drobyshevsky, in the original podcast "Russia Speaks".
"When we look at how men choose whom they consider beautiful, they tend to think: 'What exists is already beautiful.' Women, however, evaluate themselves and others with the idea that something could still be slightly changed. And the direction of those changes can be quite arbitrary," said Stanislav Drobyshevsky.
The original podcast "Russia Speaks" by the National Centre RUSSIA continues the tradition of open dialogue on the most important issues of our time. The project brings together leading experts and cultural figures whose ideas and experience help audiences better understand our rapidly changing world.
The episode is available on the website russia.ru in the section "Livestreams and Videos", as well as on VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, RUTUBE and the Dzen platform.
