Become a co-author of the future: the "Map of 100 Years" installation opens at the National Centre RUSSIA
What will the world look like in a hundred years? What will
be the most respected profession in 2032? What will need to happen in 2045 for
snow to fall on demand? The "Map of 100 Years" installation has
opened at the National Centre RUSSIA: you can leave your forecast for the next
century and become a co-author of a shared vision of the future. The
installation is presented as part of the Open Lecture Hall "Inventing the Future: Geography".
The circular structure is not just an exposition stand, but
a three-dimensional model of the future that anyone can contribute to. It is
arranged like a grid: horizontally, it features decades from 2030 to 2110, and
vertically, four key domains — Earth, space, the water world, and the digital
environment.
Each visitor can choose any cell on the "map" —
the intersection of a specific decade and a selected domain — and leave their
prediction. What will emerge in that decade? What will change in human life?
Ideas can take any form, from short notes to detailed sketches. Visitors can
also build on the ideas of others, add details, and connect events across
different periods with arrows. Imagine showing how the discovery of new energy
sources in the ocean in 2040 could enable the construction of colonies on Mars,
or how plans for intergalactic travel might already be shaping human life
today.
The main idea of the "Map of 100 Years" is
creation and optimism. Participants are shaping a vision of the future in which
the environment has been restored, new worlds have been explored, and humanity
has found harmony with itself and the surrounding world. There are no limits:
even the shortest idea or a simple sketch can become part of a larger picture.
The atmosphere is enhanced by the captivating sounds of Hanghang and
space-inspired electric guitar melodies.
The Open Lecture Hall "Inventing the Future:
Geography" is an original project of the National Centre RUSSIA. The
programme offers a wide range of activities: visitors can attend thematic
lectures, engage with experts in geography, space, and environmental studies,
and take part in interactive sessions — all of which offer a fresh perspective
on the role of geography in shaping the future. Livestreams will be available
on russia.ru in the "Livestreams and Videos" section.
Join us to help create a collective vision of tomorrow and
believe in the limitless potential of humanity!
