More than five thousand people took part in the May Day procession and flash mob at the RUSSIA EXPO
A
procession under the slogan "May! Labor is Cool!", timed to coincide
with May Day celebrations was held at the RUSSIA EXPO. It was organized by the
Russian Student Squads (RSS) together with the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs
(Rosmolodezh) and the RUSSIA EXPO Directorate. More than five thousand people
took part in the procession.
"Today's
procession is a symbol of unity, which is in our blood. Everyone joins us -
both casual passers-by and guests who have come to see the Exposition. And
today is an incredible, fabulous day - thousands of smiles, music, sunshine,
everyone is in a good mood. Russia unites!" said Natalia Virtuozova,
Director General of the RUSSIA EXPO.
10 thematic
columns marched along VDNH. They included veterans of student squads,
university students, representatives of state authorities, employers and large
Russian companies, partners and employers of the RSS, participants of the
student squad movement from different regions of Russia. In addition, the
procession was attended by athletes, representatives of youth movements and
families-dynasties that pass on labor experience from generation to generation.
"The
young generation of our country should realize that only through labor we can
be a strong, prosperous and unshakable power. And this requires not just words,
but deeds. Together with the Russian Student Squads, we have launched a
separate grant competition timed to coincide with the Spring and Labor holiday.
We will announce its results tomorrow. Our young people in the regions will
receive funds to implement their projects. More than 5 thousand applications
have been submitted for the contest. I would like to note that among the
initiatives there are vocational guidance projects for teenagers - an extremely
important topic discussed today at all levels," said Ksenia Razuvaeva,
Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
Mikhail
Kiselev, Chairman of the RSS Board, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma
Committee on Youth Policy, noted in his speech the great prospects that are
opening up in Russia for the new generation.
"Today's
procession is a banner of youth labor, "May! Labor is Cool!" is one
of the slogans of the student squads. This year we plan to employ 400 thousand
young guys. Just recently in the Kremlin we celebrated the fiftieth anniversary
of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. This year, more than 3,200 young people will take
part in the main priority Komsomol construction. Students will work at KAMAZ,
in children's health camps. We will employ about 100 thousand teenagers. This
year students will work both in Russia and abroad: nuclear power plants in
Turkey, Egypt, Hungary, Belarus and Bangladesh. Therefore, the guys will have a
great variety to choose work all over the country and the world. By the summer
labor semester, we have trained 50 thousand students in additional working
specialties, it became possible thanks to the support of the President and the
Government of the Russian Federation," emphasized Mikhail Kiselev.
The
procession ended with a flash mob "We Lead the Future". Its
participants reproduced the traditions of celebrating May Day in different
decades of the Soviet era.
"With
the advent of a new stage at the RUSSIA EXPO dedicated to the future of Russia,
the cultural and entertainment program has also been updated. Now our guests
can be not only spectators of grandiose events, but also participants - weekly
we hold mass processions and bright flash mobs that bring good mood. Many
thanks for today's procession to Rosmolodezh and the Russian Student
Squads," said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director of the RUSSIA EXPO.
Next at the
Exposition there will be a procession of accordionists, bayan and harmonica
players from all over the country, which will be held on May 8. On Victory Day,
May 9, a brass band and young people will march through the territory of VDNH.
Newlyweds from all over the country, who came to the first All-Russian Wedding
Festival, will take part in the procession on May 12.
