Dance as a common language: Zelimkhan Kozayev on the idea of the "Khorovod" at the National Centre RUSSIA
Dance is capable of uniting people just like music and
words: without translation, immediately at the level of feelings. This idea was
embodied in the musical and choreographic parable "Khorovod"
("Round Dance"), which was performed at the National Centre RUSSIA.
One of the participants in the project was the Alan State Academic Dance
Ensemble, led by Artistic Director Zelimkhan Kozayev.
"The khorovod is like one family, a single circle. Its idea embodies mutual understanding between peoples because the art of dance brings us closer together. When an artist takes to the stage, their costume and movement convey to the audience what is understood without words," said Zelimkhan Kozayev.
According
to him, participating in such a project is a natural continuation of the
tradition established by older generations: "This brings our peoples
closer together because that is how our ancestors lived. They always
felt like part of a large country. We are very pleased to be able to present
our dances to the Moscow audience and participate in such a grand
celebration."
The artist
expressed his gratitude to the National Centre RUSSIA for the invitation and
the opportunity to showcase his collective's art within the framework of the
"Khorovod".
The musical
and choreographic parable "Khorovod" is a large-scale project of the
National Centre RUSSIA, dedicated to one of the country's most important
cultural symbols. Around 300 artists took part in the premiere; through
dance and music — universal languages understood without translation — the
audience was shown the wealth of the cultures of the peoples of Russia. In a
country where hundreds of languages are spoken, it is the khorovod and the
common circle that become the image of unity.
Geographer Alexei Vodorezov told guests at the National Centre RUSSIA why nature in Siberia and Alaska is so similar, and how this affected the dispersal of animals and humans.
From 1 to 10 May, the National Centre RUSSIA invites you to join the All-Russian campaign "Memory Wall".
The first performance of the musical and choreographic parable "Khorovod" at the National Centre RUSSIA was attended not only by bearers of Russian culture but also by foreign guests.
