"Now we look at architecture with new eyes": feedback on the lecture "Business Russia" at the National Centre RUSSIA
The series
of educational lectures held as part of the architectural exposition "The
Birth of Scale" continues to attract full audiences. The latest event,
"Business Russia," which took place on May 21 at the National Centre
RUSSIA, was no exception — guests were deeply impressed by the journey through
the history of the country's business architecture guided by moderator, art
historian and architecture expert Yelizaveta Likhacheva.
"This
isn’t my first time here. I really enjoy the way Yelizaveta Likhacheva speaks —
vast knowledge, a great sense of humour, and you don’t just come to the lecture
to hear the announced topic, but to discover many other new things and simply
to chat and smile. Afterwards, you walk around the city with this new
knowledge, look at the buildings, and you already see them a little
differently," shared architecture enthusiast Marina Volkova.
The lecture
on architectural sites that have become symbols of Russian entrepreneurship and
business culture gave many a fresh perspective on the link between architecture
and commerce.
"For
me, the most valuable part was the historical section of the lecture, where
Yelizaveta Stanislavovna spoke about details that are always exciting to recall
— what was built when and by which of our greatest architects," noted
Angela Grigorya, a student at the architectural and construction institute of
MSTU-MASI.
The
audience was especially thrilled by the stories about iconic architectural
landmarks: from historical ones like Gostiny Dvor and the "book-shaped
houses," to modern giants such as the Lakhta Centre.
"What
I liked most was the beginning of the lecture — about the history of business
architecture and how it first emerged. The lecturer spoke in a very engaging
and well-structured way, without any unnecessary digressions. I also really
enjoyed the final concept shown — the future building of the National Centre
RUSSIA, which is expected to diversify the architecture of Moscow City. It will
be fascinating to see it, we’re looking forward to the project being brought to
life," said Daniil Raykin, a student of the MASI Faculty of Design.
The next
lecture, "Engineering Russia," will take place on May 23. Its main
theme will be the technical aspects of architecture. Nikolai Vasilyev,
Associate Professor at the NRU Moscow State University of Civil Engineering,
Professor at the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, and Advisor
to the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAASN) will
be the speaker.
Participation
