The Russian tricolour was raised to an altitude of 1,500 metres
On 29 August, a unique event took place at the Manskiy airfield as part of the national parachuting competitions for the DOSAAF of Russia Cup. For the first time in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a parachutist jumped from an altitude of 1,500 metres carrying a 9 by 15-metre Russian flag. The event was organised by the National Centre RUSSIA in the Krasnoyarsk Territory together with the regional branch of DOSAAF.
The record-breaking jump was performed by Mikhail Savchenko, a member of the Russian Parachuting Federation. The flag, measuring approximately the height of a five-storey building, unfurled in the sky above the airfield, delighting the hundreds of spectators who had gathered for the event.
"If anyone has jumped with a flag this size in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, it must have been a very long time ago. Imagine a five-storey building turned on its side. It is very spectacular and beautiful, but also difficult to do. From the ground, it looks amazing, and anyone can watch the record. It is a great celebration — a flag, the sky, aircraft and aviation," said Mikhail Savchenko.
The event was held as part of the national parachuting competitions for the DOSAAF of Russia Cup in accuracy landing. Guests were also treated to demonstration jumps and aircraft flights, guided tours of the airfield complex and field-kitchen catering.
The event marked an important step in the development of parachuting in the region and reaffirmed the status of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Krasnoyarsk Territory as a venue for major events of federal significance.
The tour for the ministers was led by the Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova.
A creative meeting with People's Artist of Russia and Artistic Director and Chief Director of the Teresa Durova Theatre will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA on 13 September.
The demonstration is led by Larisa Ushakova, a leading Dymkovo artisan and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia.
