On April 27, a children's workshop titled "Sugar City" was held in the art class of the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA, organized by the children's architectural studio "I CAN!".

Marina Vaisman, founder of the "I CAN!" studio, explained that the organizers had spent a long time searching for a material that would reflect Russian traditions and ultimately chose refined sugar.

"Children will build a giant city, fortresses, skyscrapers, and simple houses. We will create a huge shared master plan made of sugar," Marina Vaisman said before the event.

During the workshop, young architects, together with "I CAN!" studio instructor Apollinaria Ryumina, discussed how a city resembles a living organism, similar to a forest and natural structures.

The children learned about modularity and abstraction in architecture, became familiar with concepts related to games like Tetris and Minecraft, and also tried their hand at architectural graphics and model making. Each participant created their own magical world and felt like a true architect.

The architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA reveals the greatness of Russia through its architectural legacy. The exposition features objects from the National Centre RUSSIA's own collection as well as items provided by museums and private collectors across the country. Among them are architects' tools from different eras, drawings and models, and building designs that were both realized and left as innovative concepts. A special section is dedicated to the future of Russian architecture, showcasing children's creative studios, student workshops, and works by young architects.
