In long-term relationships, it is easy to become absorbed by everyday routines, adapt to a partner's expectations and gradually lose your sense of self. Yet it is precisely staying true to your beliefs, interests and inner convictions that makes a relationship truly strong and a family happy. These and other topics were discussed during the open dialogue "Family as a Union: What Brings Generations Closer and Helps Them Grow Together", held on 9 July at the National Centre RUSSIA as part of the III All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts". Entrepreneur, mother of many children and volunteer Pelageya Sterligova spoke about why it is important to remain faithful to your values in marriage and how shared "guiding principles" help families move forward together.

"You must not abandon your ideas and values in marriage, or the things you are passionate about. It is also very important, when you choose a partner, that even if you have different personalities and different tastes, you share the same worldview. Your values need to be the same, otherwise it will be difficult to build a marriage. My husband and I have been fortunate in that respect: we share the same guiding principles in life, the same moral values and the same views on raising children," Pelageya Sterligova emphasised.

The open dialogue also featured personal stories and family experiences shared by television presenters and parents of many children Tatyana Romanenko (Tutta Larsen) and Valery Koloskov, as well as families taking part in the All-Russian Wedding Festival. Participants discussed how to preserve respect and trust in marriage, pass traditions on to children, and build a partnership in which both spouses continue to grow together.

The open dialogue "Family as a Union: What Brings Generations Closer and Helps Them Grow Together" formed part of the business programme of the III All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts". The festival takes place at the National Centre RUSSIA, bringing together families, newlyweds, experts and public figures from across the country around the shared goal of preserving traditional family values and strengthening the institution of the family.
