A concert-presentation of academic music by contemporary composers was held at the National Centre
On January
24, a symphonic concert took place at the National Centre RUSSIA, featuring
academic works by contemporary composers. This concert was the fifth event in a
collaborative project between the contemporary academic music publishing house
"Shostakovich and Stravinsky" and the Union of Composers of Eurasia.
The project is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
The
National Centre RUSSIA played an active role in organizing the concert and was
awarded a letter of appreciation.
"We
are grateful to our partners, without whom this concert would not have been
possible. Your contribution to the development and popularization of
contemporary classical music is truly admirable. It is a special honor for us
to host such an event at the National Centre RUSSIA. This is not just a musical
event; it is a dialogue between eras, cultures, and talents. The National
Centre is always happy to be a venue for such significant events. And, of
course, I want to thank the audience for spending this Friday evening with
us," said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National
Centre RUSSIA.
"Shostakovich
and Stravinsky" is a music publishing and educational project aimed at
discovering new voices in contemporary classical music and introducing them to
a wider audience. For over a year, the label has been helping composers working
in this challenging and less popular genre gain recognition and become more
in-demand.
"This
music is valuable because it is created by the successors of the traditional
Russian composer's school and is as much a treasure as our natural resources,
great ballet, and famous writers. We thank the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives
for their support and the National Centre RUSSIA for providing such a
magnificent, simply stunning stage for our project. And dear listeners, we
kindly ask you to share this music with your friends. Let the names of
contemporary composers be known to many, because talented people have always
existed, exist, and will exist in Russia," emphasized Alina Nebykova, head
of the "Shostakovich and Stravinsky" publishing house, composer, and
chairperson of the Council of the Union of Composers of Eurasia.
The
concert, designed for a wide audience, attracted both professionals and
enthusiasts of symphonic music. The program was performed by the Mendeleev
Filarmonica Symphony Orchestra of the D. I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical
Technical University, conducted by Yevgeny Rubtsov, and the Youth Synodal
Choir, under the artistic direction and conduction of Mikhail Kotelynikov.
The concert
featured works such as Taras Buyevski's "Spring... Bureaucrats" from
the symphonic suite "Eisenstein Line," Mikhail Kotelynikov's cantata
"Oktoikh" for mixed choir and orchestra, Lyubov Shangina's choral
concert "Memory," and Alina Nebykova's "Mama" for voice and
orchestra. It also included the premiere of Nikita Vorontsov's poem "The
Black Man" for tenor and symphonic orchestra, based on Sergei Yesenin's
poetry. The work explores the theme of the main character's attempt to free
himself from the vices within.
The concert
attendees were given a unique opportunity to add the pieces they heard to their
playlists on any digital music service. To do so, they could simply scan the QR
codes in the concert program booklet and follow the links to the corresponding
works and their composers.
The integration of special military operation veterans into peaceful life and the interaction between regions and municipalities were discussed as part of the Forum "SMALL HOMELAND – THE STRENGTH OF RUSSIA".
The second All-Russian Municipal Forum "Small Homeland – the Strength of Russia" is taking place at the National Centre RUSSIA.
