A meeting with representatives of BUBBLE publishing house was held at the National Centre RUSSIA. Experts shared insights on how comics are created in our country today, how artists and scriptwriters develop captivating stories from scratch, and which formats are currently the most popular. Special attention was given to the comic "Lynx."

This is already the second meeting within the framework of the new educational project of the National Centre RUSSIA. Every week, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in topics related to cinema, literature, art, and science.

"We have launched a new format at the National Centre, and now, every Thursday, we host lectures and meetings with the most renowned and popular speakers on a variety of topics, from art to science and medicine. We invite everyone not only to spend their evening in an engaging way but also to learn something new. Last week, we talked about cinema, today – about comics and their heroes. And we are really looking forward to your feedback. You can go to our chatbot and share your thoughts on today's meeting — tell us who you would like to see at our venue, what topics to discuss, and with whom. And come visit us, it's always interesting with us," emphasized Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.

The head of the editorial department at BUBBLE publishing house and editor of the comic "Lynx," Alexandra Bizyaeva, noted that the comic culture in Russia today is as diverse as the country itself.

"There are many different authors, each with their own approach, visual experience, and range of themes. More and more creators are now turning to national topics and exploring folklore. Russia is a vast country — topics are becoming deeper and broader. When you hold a comic book in your hands, you don't think about how a large team worked on it for many months. What matters is that creative professions exist, and they can be not just a hobby or a passionate pursuit, but a real, stable career. This is especially important for young people, many of whom are here today at the National Centre," said Alexandra Bizyaeva.

More and more readers today are discovering comics through their phone screens. Daniil Vetluzhskikh, scriptwriter, comic book translator, and author of "Lynx," spoke about the new webtoon comic format.

"The webtoon format has become very popular in recent years. It’s quite convenient because you can open it on your phone and scroll through it easily. The panels are designed to flow from top to bottom, which allows for great work with dynamics, dialogues, and overall storyboarding. It’s amazing that we can show people that comics exist in Russia — they are engaging, unique, and deeply rooted in their own culture with distinctive elements. I feel that all generations now perceive comics differently, with a more positive attitude," said Daniil Vetluzhskikh.

Comic themes are diverse, ranging from science fiction and magic in everyday life to teenage coming-of-age stories, emotions, and the timeless "fathers and children" conflict. The main character of the "Lynx" comic is Sonya, a schoolgirl from Novosibirsk who accidentally gains access to the power and wisdom of a great ancient deity.

The new educational series by the National Centre RUSSIA may be of interest to those passionate about cinema, television, theater, design, and other fields of art, science, and politics. The project is aimed at anyone looking to expand their knowledge and gain insider insights from experts. Suggestions and feedback can be submitted via the feedback chatbot.
