Platform Economy Day to be held on 11 November at the National Centre RUSSIA
Representatives of government, business and the expert community will discuss how digital platforms are changing everyday life, business and the national economy at Platform Economy Day on 11 November. Discussions will focus on the national strategy for developing digital platforms through to 2036 and the initial findings of the Interdepartmental Working Group’s expert groups. Participants will examine target models for platformisation in sectors ranging from trade, finance and industry to healthcare, education and tourism, alongside the role of data and artificial intelligence, competition in digital markets and the international expansion of Russian platforms.
The highlight of the first Platform Economy Day in 2025 was the signing of the Memorandum on Fair Practices for Digital Platforms. The document set out commitments by several major platforms to implement certain provisions of the platform economy law ahead of schedule. In 2026, the main focus will be the national strategy for developing digital platforms through to 2036, which is currently being drafted.
"Platformisation in Russia encompasses not only trade, but also transport, finance, logistics, tourism, and areas such as healthcare, education, media and others. Of course, we need to pick up the pace and continue the platformisation of these sectors, incorporating artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. We have already adopted a national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence, and I ask the Government to prepare similar national strategies for autonomous systems and digital platforms," President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted during the plenary session of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026.
Discussions will build on the initial findings of the expert groups of the Interdepartmental Working Group (IWG) on the Development of Digital Economy Ecosystems and Digital Platforms. Their reports will inform the national strategy.
The programme includes thematic sessions across three areas: "Platforms for People: Scenarios for a New Everyday Life", "Platforms for Business: A Map of New Opportunities" and "The Architecture of the Platform Economy: An Environment for Development". Participants will examine target models for platformisation in trade and finance, industry, agriculture and energy, transport and logistics, construction and real estate, the urban environment, healthcare, education and employment, tourism, communications, media and entertainment. Particular attention will be paid to the role of data, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in platform development, competition in digital markets and models for the international expansion of Russian platforms. At the plenary session, participants will discuss key approaches to the national strategy for developing digital platforms.
The event will also feature an exposition area showcasing platform services in everyday life. It will present digital services that accompany people throughout the day, from waking up to going to sleep.
Platform Economy Day 2026 is an important milestone on the road to the Future Technologies Forum 2027, which will showcase achievements in the development of Russian platforms and establish development goals through to 2036.
Invited participants include representatives of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, the Federation Council and the State Duma, federal executive bodies and development institutions, regional leaders and representatives, heads of digital platforms, businesses and business associations, and experts.
The event is organised by the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, the National Centre RUSSIA, the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "The Third Rome" and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
