The National Centre RUSSIA will launch the year marking the 150th anniversary of the Union of Theatre Workers
A new professional holiday — Artist's Day — will be celebrated in Russia for the first time in 2026. This landmark event for the country's entire artistic community will take place on 17 January 2026 at 12:00 at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event is timed to the birthday of Konstantin Stanislavski. As part of the ceremonial programme, outstanding cultural figures will be honoured with high state awards.
The ceremony will be attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Golikova, and the Chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Mashkov.
Following the award ceremony, a large-scale presentation of the key events of the anniversary year will be held, including nationwide theatre festivals, touring programmes, international projects, as well as educational and publishing initiatives.
Vladimir Mashkov will present the calendar of events to be held across the country, bringing together thousands of theatre professionals from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
