The National Centre RUSSIA invites young architects and teams of students to participate in the "Creative Hub" contest, which is aimed at developing the innovative concepts for public spaces.

The "Creative Hub" contest is open to young teams of architects, bureaus and workshops founded no more than 18 years ago.

The aim of the contest is to present a new perspective on development of the public spaces in Russian cities via combining modern technologies, functionality, and cultural heritage. The contestants are invited to rethink the role of the urban ensembles, and to create environments for communication, creativity and social interaction.

Nominations:

− Public space of small towns (with the population of 50-250 thousand inhabitants).

− Public space in medium-sized cities (with the population of 250,000 - 1 million inhabitants).

− Public space in big cities (with the population over 1 million inhabitants).

Prize fund: 990,000 rubles.

A deadline for submitting applications is July 25, 2025.

Manifesto from the curator of the exposition:

"The age-old traditions of architecture have shaped the concept of public space as a multifaceted phenomenon where trade, culture, social interactions, and historical memory intersect. Squares, once living centers of exchange and theatrical performances, have now lost their functions under the pressure of shopping malls and conservation architectural solutions. We are on the threshold of a new era that needs to rethink the public space of the 21st century.

We look at the ensembles as at a result of the synergy of many factors, and not as a product of the individual creativity of developers or government agencies. The importance of contests at different levels, a functional saturation and application of modern technologies are becoming key aspects of shaping a new public space. We emphasize that successful examples like the "Artplay" show the ways to create a vibrant environment for communication and creativity, at the same time stressing the need for business planning and a sustainable economic model.

The contest will become a platform for showcasing the future public spaces, their functions and capabilities. We invite architectural collectives to join the dialogue on how to create harmonious and functional ensembles that will become the basis for new cultural exchanges and social interactions," said Andrey Chernikhov, curator of the "Birth of Scale" expo.
