An open lesson on architectural modeling was held at the National Centre RUSSIA

As part of the educational program of the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale," an open lesson "City in the Relief Technique" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA on March 16. Participants got acquainted with the basics of architectural modeling and the technique of relief composition. The event was organized by teachers of the Moscow children's art school "START." 

Students of the "START" school and guests of the National Centre RUSSIA aged 10 and above joined the creative process. Under the guidance of the teacher, the children learned how to build multi-level urban silhouettes from paper and mastered methods of working with volumetric elements. 

"Here, we present the discipline 'Volumetric-Spatial Composition,' which children study in our school from the second to the third grade. Each participant of the lesson solves the task a little differently: someone creates an urban relief from the silhouettes of buildings, while someone forms more complex elements, on the basis of which it is possible to create volumetric models. At the same time, you can join our lesson without prior preparation. Of course, it is unlikely to create complex elements the first time, but everyone can understand the basic principles; there is nothing super-complicated or scary about it," noted the open lesson instructor, a teacher of modeling at the "Children's Art School 'START'" Tatyana Semenchenko. 

After the open lesson, participants were able to take home a piece of the expressive urban landscape designed with their own hands.

The exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA presents implemented architectural projects, as well as ideas that remained only in the form of projects. These are unique models of buildings, drawings, and layouts that were stored in museums and private collections. Everyone can visit the exposition for free.
