The National Centre RUSSIA hosted the premiere of a documentary about the RUSSIA EXPO
The National Centre RUSSIA held the premiere screening of the documentary film "My Country — My Russia." This joint project between the National Centre and the RT documentary channel tells the story of the International RUSSIA EXPO, a landmark event in the history of the global exposition movement and a symbol of unity for the entire country.
The International RUSSIA EXPO opened its doors at the VDNH site on November 4, 2023, the Day of National Unity. In just 87 days, 265,000 square meters of exposition areas, pavilions, and large art objects were built at VDNH for the event.
"For eight months, we lived in a unique atmosphere of pride, love, and admiration. Together with 89 regions of the country, ministries, public organizations, corporations, guides, volunteers, and, of course, our dear visitors, we created this monumental exposition. Today, at the National Centre RUSSIA, we sincerely hope to recreate this same atmosphere of admiration, pride, and love for our great country and for one another. I am confident that we will succeed," said Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The creation of the documentary "My Country — My Russia" was inspired by the presentation of the film "Thank You, Dear," released during the first month of the exposition to highlight the country's achievements.
"This is already the second film we have created in collaboration with RT. The first film, 'Thank You, Dear,' was viewed in 26 countries and translated into 13 languages. The new premiere will be shown in even more countries — we agreed on this with the television team today," said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The film was shot directly on-site, right up to the final day of the Exposition. Participants included guides, staff from the directorate, and numerous guests — politicians, public figures, athletes, artists, art historians, ordinary visitors, as well as representatives of federal agencies and corporations.
"Undoubtedly, the Exposition was a significant effort for us. We aimed to present the theme of space and astronautics in a way that would captivate a wide audience, from young people to older generations and guests from various regions. The RUSSIA EXPO became a major milestone in enhancing our work. Now, with the establishment of the National Centre RUSSIA, which is dynamically developing and hosting new events, we have an opportunity to continue moving forward," said Dmitry Shishkin, Director of the Administrative Department of the Roscosmos State Corporation.
The new documentary was authored by Dmitry Khrustalev and directed by Yekaterina Kitaitseva. Both are convinced that during the production of the film, the entire crew became part of a grand, remarkable, and significant event in the life of the country and the world.
"Our team created a chronicle of the RUSSIA EXPO. The Exposition lasted eight months, and the crew managed to fit it into 54 minutes, attempting to convey its atmosphere — an atmosphere of love and pride. I truly hope that today, as you watch this film, you will also feel this love for our country and experience a sense of pride. We are grateful to everyone who attended the premiere and to the management of the National Centre RUSSIA for the opportunity to screen the film in such modern and beautiful halls," said Yekaterina Yakovleva, Director of Documentary Broadcasting at RT and General Producer of the festival "RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes."
In addition to visitors to the National Centre, the premiere screening of the documentary also welcomed heroes featured in the film, including anniversary visitors of the RUSSIA EXPO.
"At the Exposition, Pavilion No. 75 left the most lasting impression, where the entirety of Russia was presented. It was possible to visit all regions simultaneously, immediately see the national and natural features, and industrial achievements. The entire country opened up in a new way. It's comparable to the feeling of watching a black-and-white TV and then going to a cinema to see a big screen, with the added effect of 3D," said Svetlana Suleymanova from Penza, the millionth visitor of the RUSSIA EXPO.
The film "My Country – My Russia" can be seen on the website russia.ru, on the National Centre's page on VKontakte, as well as on the broadcasts of RT International and the RT Documentary channel.
The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis.
