The New Year tree lit at the National Centre RUSSIA
A ceremonial New Year tree lighting took place at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event was held as part of the opening of the journey-style exposition "Book of Fairy Tales". The New Year tree lighting ceremony at the National Centre RUSSIA will now be held annually in the run-up to the main family holiday.
The ceremony took place at the final point of the exposition route – in the "Terem", after guests had explored the key locations of the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition. The exposition is dedicated to the legends, crafts and fairytale archetypes of Russian folk culture and brought together eight regions of Russia. Their stories about land, people and traditions were presented by the Kaliningrad region, the Republic of Mordovia, the Vologda region, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, the Republic of Karelia, the Stavropol region, the Ryazan region and the Republic of Komi.
The lights on the New Year tree were lit to the familiar and much-loved words: "One! Two! Three! Little tree, light up!". At that moment, the space was filled with light, joy, and the anticipation of a miracle. The New Year tree lighting ceremony became a symbolic conclusion to the festive opening of the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition.
The "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition will run at the National Centre RUSSIA until 1 March. Admission is free, with visits available as part of organised guided groups upon prior registration. The New Year tree, lit at the final point of the route, will become not only a symbol of the holiday but also a new warm tradition that will open the New Year season at the National Centre RUSSIA each year, bringing guests together around fairytale imagery, culture, and the anticipation of a miracle.
