The National Centre RUSSIA names the most popular events held during the New Year holidays
Over 18,000 people visited the National Centre RUSSIA during the New Year holidays. From 6 to 11 January, they attended numerous cultural events, including the theatrical carolling "Fairytale Path", New Year workshops, and the multi-genre performance "Morozko".
Particularly popular was the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition telling about the favourite stories and legends of Russia's regions. Guests also eagerly attended the "Journey Across Russia" exposition, which showcases the achievements and landmarks of our country from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. During the New Year holidays, these displays were visited by over 10,000 people.
The main discovery of the season was the multi-genre performance "Morozko", presented on the main stage of the National Centre RUSSIA. The production is based on a magical journey into the world of Russian fairy tales, combining opera, ballet, folklore and modern multimedia technologies. During the New Year holidays, more than 11,000 people attended the performance. The final showing of it is scheduled for 14 January.
The creative component of the New Year programme was represented by original workshops, where guests of the National Centre RUSSIA of all ages mastered folk handicraft techniques, learned about artistic crafts, and discovered the secrets of home decorating. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, visitors painted candles and nevalyashki (roly-poly dolls), created unique soft toys, and trained in the Russian style festive table setting.
At the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition, as part of the "New Year Russia" project, interactive Christmas carolling sessions "Fairytale Path" were held. Young guests of the National Centre were introduced to traditional games and round dances, learned carols and immersed themselves in the cultural traditions of Russia's regions.
All events held at the National Centre RUSSIA are free of charge. You can learn about upcoming events and book tours on the website russia.ru in the "Events" section.
