Plans for the integrated development of the Nenets Autonomous Area to be discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA
Meetings with heads of regions of the Russian Federation as part of the thematic programme "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 steps" continue at the National Centre RUSSIA. During the dialogue, heads of the regions share plans regarding implementation of projects and initiatives in priority and developing sectors of the regions' economy, which will help improve the citizens' quality of life and well-being.
On 15 October, on the eve of the Nenets Autonomous Area centenary, the strategy for its integrated development will be presented by its head Irina Gekht.
The Nenets Autonomous Area (NAA) is a region located beyond the Arctic Circle. The NAA is a place where the most competitive and technological branch of the Russian economy, the oil and gas industry, and the traditional way of life of the indigenous small-numbered people of the North, the Nenets, organically intertwine. The region is a strategic point of the Northern Sea Route, and its capital, the city of Naryan-Mar, is one of the 16 mainstay settlements of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The NAA is the closest and most accessible part of Arctic for central Russia: from Moscow, you can get there by plane in just 2.5 hours.
The central topic of the meeting will be improving the well-being of Northerners. Irina Gekht will present concrete initiatives which can significantly affect the development of medicine, education, transport accessibility, and infrastructure.
The head of the region will pay great attention to socio-economic cooperation with subsurface user companies. This partnership will ensure emergence of new jobs, attract investment in the social sphere, and replenish the local budget.
During the meeting, Irina Gekht will touch upon the issue of maintaining a balance between subsurface exploration and the ecological situation in the region, on which people's quality of life and the health of future generations directly depend.
The head of the region will talk about the growing potential of the agricultural industry, which ensures food security in the region. For residents, this means guaranteed access to high-quality and fresh products and stable prices for them.
Representatives of big business, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, senators from the Federation Council, and public figures will attend the meeting with the head of the NAA Irina Gekht.
Meetings with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are held within the full-scale regional programme of the National Centre RUSSIA titled "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 steps". This programme is implemented in line with the national development goals set by the President of the Russian Federation and is based on the principle of prioritising each individual’s interests, their self-realisation and quality of life.
