Winners of the a All-Russian "My Far East" contest announced at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 30 November, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted a live broadcast announcing the winners of the All-Russian "My Far East" Video Essay Contest. This large-scale project, designed to introduce young people to the opportunities and development prospects of the Russian Far East, brought together nearly 1,000 participants from across the country. The main prize for the winners is a trip to this unique macro-region.
A total of 302 entries from schoolchildren and students representing all eight federal districts of Russia were accepted for the competition. Participants from 78 regions actively prepared for the contest. Many were inspired by the "Far Eastern Regions Days" exposition, which was previously displayed at the National Centre RUSSIA. Representatives from the Movement of the First, "Young Guard" and youth parliaments from various cities also joined the project.
During the preparation period, the organisers received 389 emails and 40 enquiries via social media. The VKontakte community gained 2,504 new subscribers, whilst posts accumulated over 112,000 views.
Participants took a creative approach to the task, preparing entries in the format of travel shows, podcasts, short films and even cookery programmes. Some videos were even filmed in the indigenous languages of the Far Eastern peoples.
During the live broadcast, winners were announced for video essays representing ten Far Eastern regions: Amur, Kamchatka, Sakhalin region, the Republic of Buryatia, Primorye region, Chukotka Autonomous Area, Zabaykalsky region, Magadan region, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Khabarovsk region. The names of the best entries' authors were announced live by official regional representatives.
"I express my sincere gratitude for the interest shown in our regions and am proud that such interesting and talented young people live in our country. Special thanks go to the contest organisers for the opportunity to showcase the Far East and for supporting creative initiatives. Dear participants! Your works are extremely valuable and important to us, as they have helped even more people across the country learn fascinating facts about the Far Eastern regions. I wish you bright ideas, captivating storylines, and may inspiration be the eternal companion of your creativity," said Kapitolina Plotnikova, Deputy Director of the Primorye Region Government Representative Office to the Government of the Russian Federation, addressing the contestants.
Alongside the ceremony, viewers of the broadcast took part in an online quiz about the Far East, organised in partnership with the "Another Matter" ("Drugoye Delo") service. Participants who answered the questions correctly had the chance to win special prizes.
The All-Russian "My Far East" Video Essay Contest is held as part of the "Far Eastern Regions Days in Moscow 2025" festival.
