Architectural lectures "Business Russia" and "Engineering Russia" to Be held at the National Centre RUSSIA
The series of educational lectures within the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA will continue on May 21 with the fifth meeting "Business Russia," and just two days later, on May 23, guests will attend the lecture "Engineering Russia." Both events begin at 18:00.
The "Business Russia" lecture will introduce the audience to the evolution of the country's business spaces and remind them that the business environment is determined not only by economics but also by architectural structures where negotiations are conducted and contracts are signed.
Guests of the National Centre RUSSIA will learn which buildings became symbols of entrepreneurship and business culture in Russia during different historical periods. Experts will also explain how architectural solutions become tools for success, creating an atmosphere for business and improving interaction between partners and clients.
The main theme of the "Engineering Russia" lecture will be the technical component of architecture. Unique buildings will be presented to the audience not just as works of architecture, but as the embodiment of bold ideas based on precise calculations and deep knowledge of the laws of physics.
The programme includes stories about how Russian architects applied engineering skills and found non-standard approaches, playing with forms, materials, and details. Often their projects were ahead of their time, raising the standards of convenience and efficiency of buildings to a new level.
Both lectures will be moderated by art historian and architectural historian Yelizaveta Likhacheva. In "Business Russia," her interlocutor will be the co-founder and chief architect of ATRIUM workshop Anton Nadtochy, and in "Engineering Russia" — associate professor at the National Research University Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, professor at Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov, advisor to Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction SciencesNikolai Vasiliev.
The series of educational lectures on architecture with Yelizaveta Likhacheva is available for viewing on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA. More details are available at the link.
The architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA reveals the grandeur of Russia through its architectural legacy. The exposition features both objects from the National Centre RUSSIA itself and those provided by museums and private collectors from across the country. Among them are architects’ tools from different eras, drawings and models, and building prototypes — some successfully constructed, others remaining as innovative concepts. A dedicated section presents the future of Russian architecture, showcasing children’s creative studios, student workshops, and works by young architects.
Partners of "The Birth of Scale" exposition include DOM.RF, the Ministry of Construction of Russia, Gazprom, the A. V. Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the Yakov Chernikhov Architectural Charity Foundation, and the HSE School of Design.
You can join a guided tour of "The Birth of Scale" exposition and attend events from the educational programme free of charge by registering in advance on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA at russia.ru. Current information about the workshops can be found in the "Events" section.
