Myths about the Berlin operation to be examined at the National Centre RUSSIA
The Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation is one of the most
significant events in the history of the Great Patriotic War. In the year of
the 81st anniversary of Victory, the National Centre RUSSIA invites guests to
the Open Lecture Hall "The Storming of Berlin: The Last Battle",
dedicated to examining myths about the Berlin operation. The event will be held
on 22 May. One of the speakers will be Director of the "I Remember"
Foundation and member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Military
Historical Society, Artyom Drabkin.
"Did
the Allies really plan to take Berlin before the Red Army entered the city? Is
it true that Stalin arranged a contest between Zhukov and Konev? Who was the
first to raise the Banner of Victory? We will address these and other questions
in our speech together with Alexei Isayev," said Artyom Drabkin.
Why did the
final stage of the war become so heavily mythologised? Could the
storming really have been avoided? Did Stalin really arrange a contest between
Marshals Zhukov and Konev? Why was the Reichstag chosen for raising the Banner
of Victory? Military historians and experts from the Russian Military
Historical Society will answer these and other questions as part of the Open
Lecture Hall.
The
partners are the Russian Military Historical Society, the Presidential
Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the "I Remember" Foundation. The
event is open to visitors by prior registration on our website.
The team of the National Centre RUSSIA, headed by Director General Natalia Virtuozova, visited the Khabarovsk Territory on a working trip.
From 17 to 21 May, the National Centre RUSSIA will present its flagship project, Department Store RUSSIA, at the 10th Russia-China EXPO in Harbin for the first time.
Preserving the writer’s creative legacy is also an important part of the mission of the National Centre RUSSIA.
