10th Congress of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia opens at the National Centre RUSSIA
The 10th anniversary Congress of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia has opened at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event will review the organisation’s work over the past five years, as well as its contribution to the development of Russian industry, the defence industry, personnel policy and the country’s technological leadership. The congress is attended by heads of major enterprises, representatives of federal and regional authorities, delegates from the Union’s regional branches, members of the scientific, educational and expert communities, rectors of leading universities, youth leaders and media representatives. In total, the National Centre RUSSIA has brought together more than 800 people.
"The tasks facing the Union today are in line with the challenges facing the country as a whole. First of all, these include providing the army with everything it needs to take part in the special military operation, import substitution, and ensuring the state’s technological sovereignty. Since 2022, the Union has carried out significant work to modernise the resources of machine-building enterprises so that they can fulfil the state defence order. Today, our industry provides the army with everything it needs. In addition, the Union of Mechanical Engineers is actively involved in personnel training. Because of the shortage of personnel, we are taking measures to provide enterprises with highly qualified specialists. We begin this work at school level by providing career guidance for young people. Industry is operating under unprecedented external pressure. Despite sanctions, enterprises are developing and increasing production volumes. To ensure the stability of industry and achieve technological acceleration, support from the President, the Government and the State Duma is needed — and we feel this support. We put forward proposals to amend legislative acts, and we receive support," noted Chairman of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia and Director General of Rostec State Corporation, Sergei Chemezov.
The event will include discussions on technological leadership, the development of the defence industry, workforce stability at enterprises, strengthening the role of engineering education, support for industry under external pressure, and protection of the domestic market. Special attention will be paid to youth and career guidance projects, the donor movement, the "Always Nearby" humanitarian campaign, industry awards, and the work of the Arbitration Institution under the Union. The congress will also serve as a platform for developing proposals that may form the basis for further decisions in industrial policy.
The event broadcast is available on our website, russia.ru, in the "Livestreams and Videos" section.
