Business programme in media and journalism by the SHUM Centre launched at the National Centre RUSSIA
The business programme in media and journalism by the SHUM Youth Media Development Centre of Rosmolodezh has started at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event has brought together over 800 young media specialists, bloggers, journalists, and industry leaders from all 89 regions of the country. The programme is organised by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the Government of the Kaliningrad Region as part of the national project "Youth and Children".
"The future of the information space depends on you. It is you who set the trends and create the powerful voice of youth. In today’s world, media are not just tools of communication but an essential platform for shaping public values, which means you bear a great responsibility to be part of SHUM — to be people who stand by their words, care about their city, their region, and the entire country. I would like to thank everyone who put their time and energy into making this important day happen, and special thanks to the National Centre RUSSIA, which for the second year in a row has hosted events of the SHUM Centre. Only through joint efforts can such projects be created," said Minister of Youth Policy of the Kaliningrad Region Anna Musevich in her welcoming speech.
The programme places special emphasis on graduates of SHUM educational initiatives from previous years who have become key drivers of local media projects and change in their regions. Within the centre’s educational programmes, participants have the opportunity to tackle real tasks related to creating media strategies and other formats commissioned by leading companies from various industries.
"It is a great joy to see so many people from all over the country here today. You are living in a truly unique time — in a country full of opportunities for young people. All that’s left is to take your turn, be bold and strive to create something new," said Adviser to the Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) Olga Kuznetsova.
Head of the SHUM Youth Media Development Centre Tatyana Mandrykina noted that the event holds special significance for the professional growth of participants as well as for regional development.
"Today we will make noise with kindness, meaning, and mutual support. I want you to be a little hungry for knowledge, for questions and for communication. What is happening here today is a major celebration of ideas for those who want to bring a piece of this experience back to their regions," she wished the young media specialists.
The day’s business programme opened with a panel session titled "The Influence of Media and Journalism on the Formation of Modern Society". Throughout the day, participants will attend lectures and workshops, learn about SHUM Centre programmes, visit interactive photo zones, take part in autograph sessions with popular bloggers, and meet the award ambassadors, representatives of the media community and public authorities, as well as enjoy performances by artists and much more.
The SHUM Youth Media Development Centre was opened on 4 April 2024 following the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The centre’s key projects include the All-Russian Youth Educational Forum SHUM, part of the Rosmolodezh.Forums platform, and the national youth award in media and journalism SHUM.
The discussion will focus on how the role of civil society in election monitoring has evolved.
Individual career trajectories will be developed for the most active participants.
