Leading visionaries will create a work about Russia' future in the science fiction genre
Eksmo Publishing House and National Media Group (NMG) together with ANO "Creative Economy" will present a unique project within the framework of the "Inventing the Future" Symposium — a writers' room dedicated to the theme "Overcoming the boundaries of ageing in the concept of techno-optimism." On November 4, the project will unite leading representatives of science, technology, and media business.
Specialists will design an entire universe with unique characters and their living spaces, with events that will unfold in Russia's future.
"Science fiction has always been a mirror of future possibilities. We live in an era of rapid technological changes and scientific discoveries, and today, more than ever, it is important to rethink the role of this genre in shaping the world's future. The writers' room provides a unique platform for interaction between writers, scientists, and business leaders," noted Oleg Novikov, president of the Eksmo-AST publishing holding.
The main goal of the project is to inspire a new generation of authors to revive and develop the science fiction genre. A distinctive feature of this initiative will be the active use of artificial intelligence in the work process. AI will act as a co-author in creating the genre and plot of media content, as well as visual material.
"We hope the writers' room will work as a catalyst for creating variations of the image of the future in contemporary content. To start thinking about this topic, talking about this topic, jointly creating ideas that perhaps tomorrow will become reality — this is a big step in the development of the media industry," emphasised Maria Zalunina, head of CSR at NMG.
The Eksmo-AST publishing group acts as literary partner of the "Inventing the Future" Symposium. Yevgeny Kapyev, general director of Eksmo Publishing House, will moderate the event. The speakers include representatives of the scientific community, writers, executives, leading editors, creators from Eksmo publishing house, producers, representatives of creative divisions, and executives from STS Media, Channel 5, National Media Group, and heads of ANO "Creative Economy."
On July 1, 2024, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of the National Centre RUSSIA to preserve the legacy of the RUSSIA EXPO and demonstrate the country's achievements on a permanent basis.
From November 4 to 6, the National Centre will host its first event — the International Symposium "Inventing the Future." Participants can expect three intensive days and more than 60 events in the programme dedicated to four objects of research: the future of humanity, the future of technology, the future of a multipolar world, and the future of civilisation.
Many renowned scientists, experts, writers, members of the Government of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the country's largest corporations have already confirmed their participation. Delegates from approximately 40 countries will take part in the event.
The thematic directions of the II International Symposium "Inventing the Future" programme have been announced.
The annual Symposium will unite more than 7,000 experts from the SCO and BRICS countries, the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States, to develop positive scenarios for the future.
The dialogue set the tone for discussion of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, and was devoted to the study of key climate changes.
