Spring at the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA welcomes
spring with a vibrant update — the space has been transformed and the
assortment has been enriched with many new and interesting items. The
atmosphere now resembles that of a true merchant estate, yet without any
museum-like antiquity: traditional style is presented in a fresh, light and
contemporary way.
Every element of the interior — from furniture to small
decorative details — refers to suburban life of the nineteenth century, doing
so subtly and elegantly. Instead of conventional folkloric symbols, visitors
see authentic works by Russian artisans: soft carpets from Siberia and Dagestan,
bright trays decorated with traditional Zhostovo painting, and cosy woollen
shawls with ornaments from Pavlovsky Posad. Crystal sweet bowls from
Gus-Khrustalny and Dyatkovo sparkle on the shelves, lace tablecloths and
napkins from Yelets decorate the tables, while nearby are refined items made
with Kadom venise lace from the Ryazan region and textiles featuring exclusive
prints by artists from the Vladimir region.
These objects are not merely displayed — they are
organically integrated into the interior, decorating table settings and
decorative compositions. It is immediately clear how they can be used in a
modern home: they do not look archaic; on the contrary, they add warmth and
character to any space.
Different traditions meet on the porcelain shelf: minimalist
pieces from Saint Petersburg with an almost Scandinavian aesthetic, classic
designs from Likino-Dulyovo, and the recognisable blue-and-white patterns of
Gzhel. Once considered souvenirs, these items have now confidently taken their
place in modern kitchens and living rooms.
There are also gastronomic discoveries. The spring
collection includes what could be called "edible memory": sweet
assortments prepared according to old recipes from Kolomna, fragrant berry
delicacies from Siberia and other regional treats. They not only look beautiful
— such delicacies can become the centrepiece of an evening tea gathering.
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA is a
place where "traditional" craftsmanship is presented as contemporary,
stylish and refined. It brings together items with a story: from ceramics
created in regional workshops to textiles produced by historic manufactories,
from family confectionery recipes to productions tested by centuries.
A walk through the renewed Department Store feels like
visiting a museum of applied arts — except that here any "exhibit"
you like can be taken home. It is a place where it is easy to find inspiration
and discover something special for your home.
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA welcomes
visitors daily, except Monday, from 10:00 to 20:00. Drop in even just to have a
look — and you will most won't leave empty-handed.
A guide to the main premiere of this spring has been prepared especially for the performance "Russian Seasons. Spring", which will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA on 7 and 8 March.
