People’s memory: the National Centre RUSSIA invites you to share your family hero’s story
In the run-up to 9 May, we say "thank you" to the
heroes whose feat lives on in the memory of every family. From 1 to 10 May, the
National Centre RUSSIA invites you to join the All-Russian campaign
"Memory Wall". Right at the venue in the Western Foyer of the
National Centre RUSSIA, you can print a portrait of your relative — a war
participant, home front worker, concentration camp prisoner, or child of war —
and place it on the memorial stand. Each of these photos will become a unique
fragment of the people's memory, bringing our shared heroic legacy to life.
The official launch of this year's All-Russian campaign
"Memory Wall" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA. The
initiative, timed to coincide with the anniversary of Victory in the Great
Patriotic War, brings together families, schools, volunteer, and public
organisations across Russia. It has already expanded far beyond its borders,
with memorial stands opening annually in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Any guest of the National Centre RUSSIA can place their hero
on the "Memory Wall". Here, you can also receive a symbol of memory
and respect for the victors' feat — the St. George Ribbon — and learn the
correct way to wear it.
The programme of events dedicated to the Great Victory does
not end there. Thematic sections of the "Journey Across Russia"
permanent exposition and the "Geography Lessons" project will tell
stories of military topography, hero-cartographers, besieged Leningrad, and
other historical events, people, feats, and phenomena. Additionally, the
National Centre RUSSIA is currently hosting the "Red Carnation"
charity campaign, the "Victory Legacy" quiz, the "Car for the
Front" patriotic initiative, the "Letter to a Hero" campaign,
and other commemorative and thematic events.
