The contribution of Soviet soldiers to victory in the Great Patriotic War is ignored in foreign schools — Alexandra Jost
In the USA, schools omit the contribution of Soviet soldiers
to victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was stated during the thematic
programme "Platform of the Future: 100 Projects of Russia" at the
National Centre RUSSIA by Russian-American blogger Alexandra Jost.
"When I lived in the USA, no one ever told us about it,
of course. We were taught that it was the Americans who won — and that was the
end of the story. But I knew it was not true, because my great-grandmother and
great-grandfather also fought and contributed to the defeat of Nazi Germany. US
President Donald Trump wrote that the Americans did more than anyone else. And
I naturally wanted to show my fellow Americans that this was not the case. A
lot of people began writing to us that they too wanted to come to Russia and
see this history with their own eyes. Step by step, we managed to share the
truth with the whole world," said Alexandra Jost.
Russian-American blogger Alexandra Jost spoke about taking
part in a blog tour dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, organised by
the Directorate of the World Youth Festival. Together with her colleagues, she
travelled across Russian cities to see the sites of military glory with her own
eyes and to tell the story of our country’s contribution to the Great Victory.
