Vladimir Yakushev awards winners of the "Rural Postman" contest
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Vladimir Yakushev held an awards ceremony honouring the country's best rural postmen and postwomen. The winner was Olga Kalmykova from the Stavropol Territory. The
ceremony took place as part of the III National Forum of Agricultural Producers
at the National Centre RUSSIA.
"The work connected with delivering mail is a mission
of service to people living in small and remote settlements. In addition to delivering
news and correspondence, you provide a vital connection with the 'mainland' in
all weather conditions and at any time of year. Very often, you are also the
people with whom residents can speak openly, who listen to their concerns and
help them find solutions. That is truly invaluable," said the First Deputy
Speaker of the Federation Council.
More than 3,000 applications were submitted for the
"Rural Postman" contest this year. A total of 86 participants reached
the final stage. Olga Kalmykova from the Stavropol Territory was named the best
rural postwoman in Russia.
Vladimir Yakushev noted that the development of the Russian
Post remains under the close attention of both Parliament and the Government of
the Russian Federation. "We all clearly understand that such an important
institution as the Russian Post must always remain reliable and efficient. Most
importantly, it must employ people who genuinely love their profession,"
he emphasised.
The contest was organised with the support of Russian Post, the
Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications
and Mass Media, and the Russian Communications Workers' Trade Union. Its aim is
to raise the prestige of the profession and draw attention to the development
of rural areas.
