Russia treasures the rich legacy of its peoples and gives priority attention to preserving languages and traditions. This was emphasised by President of Russia Vladimir Putin in a welcome address to the opening of the International Week "Peoples of Russia." The event started on 2 November and will last until 8 November. At the National Centre RUSSIA, the programme will run from 5 to 7 November.

"To discuss a wide range of issues related to improving the effectiveness of state national policy and strengthening international humanitarian cooperation, the current forum has brought together representatives of government bodies, the business, academic, and expert communities. Let me emphasise that we sincerely treasure our richest historical, cultural, and spiritual legacy and give priority attention to preserving the languages, distinctive traditions, and customs of the peoples living in Russia. And it is very important that associations and communities of indigenous peoples, public and volunteer organisations actively participate in this large-scale, constructive work," noted the head of state.

Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the forum, held in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, will become a major event in the public and cultural life of our country and other states and will help strengthen international humanitarian dialogue and professional and personal contacts.

As part of the International Week "Peoples of Russia," cultural, educational, youth, and exposition events will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 5 to 7 November. The Week takes place in Moscow from 2 to 8 November in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. All events at the National Centre RUSSIA are free of charge.

The Russian society Znanie will hold the educational marathon Znanie.Unity featuring lectures, panel discussions, displays, and special projects. The discussion entitled "One for All: the Unity of Peoples in the Name of Victory" will be one of the highlights of the Week, and will feature a presentation of the video project "Republics — to the Front" and the book "We Are Russia. The Origins and Horizons of People's Unity."

On 7 November, the National Centre RUSSIA will host Youth Day, organised by Rosmolodezh. The programme includes panel sessions on traditional values, interethnic harmony, volunteering, sport, and other topics; the XI All-Russian campaign "The Great Ethnographic Dictation"; the game-workshop "Strategy of Unity"; masterclasses "Crafts of the Peoples of Russia"; a showing of the musical "For the Flag over the Reichstag"; and a sports festival with demonstration performances in street sports. The day will conclude with the ethno-folk show "Each of Us" featuring an ethno-show of costumes of different nationalities.

Guests can look forward to photo expositions and themed showcases. The Security Council Office of the Russian Federation will present the exposition "Republics — to the Front. 1941–1945," created on the basis of archival documents and photographs and telling about the joint feat of the republics of the USSR in the Great Victory. The Investigative Committee of Russia will show the photo display "The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Today Under the Conditions of the Special Military Operation," and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation will present the exposition "The Motherland We Defend."

In addition, the Week's programme includes the gala award ceremony for the laureates of the National Award "Pride of the Nation" and concerts.

The Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army will present its programme on 5 November. Guests will enjoy a grand musical programme combining the unique power of the famous choir and the virtuoso skill of the orchestra, which combines Russian folk and wind instruments. The Igor Moiseyev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble will also take part in the Week. The company will perform on 6 November. The evening's programme features famous productions by Igor Moiseyev that have been performed on stages in Russia and around the world for many years. Audiences will get to know the dances of different peoples, their traditions, and their character. Each number tells its own story through movement, music, and costumes.

The International Week "Peoples of Russia" is held in accordance with Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 382 of 1 June 2026. The coordinator is the Security Council Office of the Russian Federation, and the operator is the Roscongress Foundation.
