Vladimir Putin congratulated the Civic Chamber of Russia on its anniversary
The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation marks its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the "Community" forum opened at the National Centre RUSSIA on 31 October, bringing together more than five thousand civic activists. In his video address, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin congratulated the participants on the upcoming National Unity Day and wished them productive work.
"This year, the forum is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Civic Chamber — a key institution of organised civil society. Its work covers almost all socially significant areas of life. A great deal of positive experience has been accumulated, including in improving legislation. For instance, the concept of public oversight has been formalised and the institution of public monitoring commissions introduced. I would also note the work to develop the public observation system for elections, which is now an integral part of the Russian electoral process," said Vladimir Putin.
The forum will be held on 31 October – 1 November. As is tradition, it will feature the annual Report of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on the state of civil society. This year’s report will reflect on the 20-year history of the Civic Chamber as one of the key institutions ensuring interaction between society and the authorities. The final version of the report will be presented to President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
