For the first time at the Department Store RUSSIA: wooden plates with Ordynskaya painting
Wooden plates with Ordynskaya painting, carved boxes made in the Abramtsevo-Kudrino school and pieces by the family workshop V SHCHEPKI ("Into Chips") turn the wooden decor section of the Department Store RUSSIA into a true museum of crafts. Guests can purchase contemporary wooden items created in the traditions of folk crafts from different regions of the country, from Siberia to the Moscow Region.
For the first time, the Department Store RUSSIA is presenting wooden plates with Ordynskaya painting by the craftswoman Nina Mukhlynina from the Novosibirsk Region. Ordynskaya painting is a distinctive Siberian craft born from observation of nature and a love of folklore. Every piece is unique: flowing lines, rich berries and herbs, emerald and azure shades — the patterns are painted by hand with a brush, so no two plates are alike.
Nina Mukhlynina’s creations will decorate any table and look beautiful on the wall as a striking art object, filling the home with warmth and comfort and adding individuality to the interior. They are also an ideal gift for those who value handmade pieces, roots and the character of Russia’s regions. The legacy of Siberia is already at the Department Store RUSSIA — come and choose your own unique plates.
The Department Store also presents boxes by masters of Abramtsevo-Kudrino carving from the town of Khotkovo in the Moscow Region. This is a continuation of the famous art school that emerged near the Abramtsevo Estate and gained recognition at international expositions. Kudrino carving is easily recognisable by its plant ornament: leaves, flowers, winding branches and, at times, birds and animals seem to gently "grow" out of the wood thanks to a special rounded relief technique. The masters work with valuable wood species, emphasising their natural texture through tinting and polishing to a mirror shine.
Another wooden goods brand is V SHCHEPKI. This is a family workshop from the city of Orel that works with wood and creates functional yet very cosy pieces. The workshop’s signature style is respect for the natural grain of wood, careful hand finishing and the use of oils that highlight the texture and extend the life of the items. The brand has received awards in Russian contests, and at the Department Store RUSSIA its collections can be seen as an example of how contemporary design works carefully with a traditional material: wood.
