"Volcanoes of Kamchatka will become a magnet for tourists": expert in an interview to the National Centre RUSSIA
The current
volcanic eruptions in Kamchatka will attract the increased attention of
tourists — not only from Russia, but also from other countries. Vadim Prasov,
Deputy Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship in the Hospitality Industry
at the RANEPA under the President of the Russian Federation, shared this
information with the press service of the National Centre RUSSIA.
A
unique natural phenomenon is currently being observed on the peninsula. It is
known as the "parade of volcanoes". Klyuchevskaya Sopka, the highest
active volcano in Eurasia (4,850 m), continues to spew lava, and its ash
emissions reach 12 kilometers in height. The Krasheninnikov volcano, Shiveluch,
Karymsky and others are also active at the moment. The impetus for this was the
powerful earthquake on July 30, 2025, which became the strongest one in 73
years, and made the peninsula's surface shift in some places by 2 meters.
"After
the volcanic eruption in Kamchatka, a surge in tourist activity among Russians
and foreigners is expected. Now many people have questions related to the
activity of several volcanoes, but for a significant part of tourists, such
natural phenomena combined with the unique beauties of the region only makes
the interest stronger," said Vadim Prasov.
As the expert explained, the earthquake that caused the "parade of volcanoes" occurred at the height of the tourist season.
"The
main splash of tourist activity is likely to occur next year. However, it is
already possible to expect that fans of volcanoes and extreme experiences will
adjust their plans and go to Kamchatka in autumn or even in winter," the
expert said, adding that an increase in tourist traffic will contribute to the
development of not only the Kamchatka Region, but also of the entire Far Eastern
region.
The
National Centre RUSSIA invites admirers of travel and the natural beauty of our
country to visit the "Journey Across Russia" exposition. In the zone of

natural, but also historical value. Archaeological findings at the foot of the
mountain state the presence of ancient settlements there, and local legends
