"Pine water for besieged Leningrad": try the vitamin drink "YolkIgolki" at the National Centre RUSSIA
The recipe for the drink at the "North" corner of the Gastronomic Rows in the National Centre RUSSIA is based on the legendary pine water that saved tens of thousands of lives during the Great Patriotic War, in the harsh years of the siege of Leningrad.
Local scientists developed a special beverage made from pine needles, with each serving containing the daily norm of vitamin C. Thanks to this simple yet effective solution, a massive outbreak of scurvy among the besieged population was prevented.
At the same time in Arkhangelsk, under the supervision of Associate Professor I. I. Matusis from the Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute, a vitamin extract from pine needles was developed to help residents of the North cope with vitamin deficiency.
Visitors to the "North" corner can try a modern interpretation of the famous pine water — the drink "Pomor YolkIgolki." For reviving this important historical beverage, its producer was awarded the national "Business Success" prize. At the National Centre RUSSIA, you can also learn more about the foods that saved lives during wartime. The Gastronomic Rows are open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 21:00.
Its central theme was the development of visual culture through educational projects, public spaces and new approaches to environmental design.
The Summer Expert Meetings will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA in July.
Experts from the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "Third Rome" analysed the discussions and essays submitted by participants in the April event.
