The youngest grandmaster in the history of chess, FIDE World Cup winner and world rapid chess champion Sergei Karjakin and Ekaterina Lobysheva, bronze medalist in the team race at the 2006 and 2014 Winter Olympics, together with her nine-year-old daughter Sofia, held a sports warm-up as part of the weekly "Marathon of Exercises" at the RUSSIA EXPO. The warm-up was organized by the RUSSIA EXPO and the "Healthy Fatherland" movement.

The Republic of Ingushetia and the Leningrad region joined the exercise via video link. A teleconference was also organized with the Tambov region. Sergei Karjakin held an intellectual warm-up with the region, asking its participants several questions on the game of chess.

"The "Marathon of Exercises' by the 'Healthy Fatherland" helps in popularization of sports and healthy lifestyle. It is conducted by our illustrious champions representing different sports. And, of course, holding exercises and participation in them is an effort to be cheerful and healthy," said Ekaterina Lobysheva.

Within the framework of the "Marathon of Exercises" at the RUSSIA EXPO, 14 regions of Russia have already joined the trainings via teleconference.

"I believe that every person should develop harmoniously. That is why I advise those athletes who are engaged in physical sports to play chess. And I make sure to tell the chess players that it is necessary to engage in active physical sport. Personally, I try to exercise every day, run and go to the swimming pool," added Sergei Karjakin.

Ekaterina Lobysheva is a two-time Olympic medalist, Merited Master of Sport of Russia. She has a medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" II degree. Sergei Karjakin is a World Cup winner, World Champion in Rapid and Blitz, winner of the Candidates Tournament, participant in the World Championship match, and two-time winner of the World Team Championship as a member of the Russian team.

At the end of the training session Sergei Karjakin, Ekaterina Lobysheva and her daughter Sofia were presented with a special limited edition "Sports Russia" medal. Every visitor to the Exposition can get this award. In order to get it, you need to come to the exercise sessions, chat with the athletes and take autographs. The guests who have collected eight different autographs will receive their own "Sports Russia" medal on July 6.

Within the framework of cooperation, the RUSSIA EXPO and the “Healthy Fatherland” All-Russian Public Movement organize a series of mass events. Warm-ups with the participation of national and world sport stars are held every Saturday on the Main Street Stage of the Exposition.

And on May 25, the largest sports parade will take place here, with 2 thousand athletes and more than 5 thousand spectators as participants. This is the most spectacular sports event of Russia in 2024, which will be supported by boxers, swimmers, footballers, gymnasts, weightlifters, sambo wrestlers, representatives of new sports. The initiative to revive sports parades was supported by President Vladimir Putin.
