A winter fairytale for the whole family: extend the New Year magic at the National Centre RUSSIA
The New Year's night has passed, but the festive mood and
thirst for new wonders remain. To ensure every day of the New Year holidays is
filled with joy and vivid impressions, the National Centre RUSSIA has prepared
a diverse programme for its guests. They will enjoy fairytale multi-genre
performance, interactive journeys into the world of Russian traditions, and
creative workshops for the whole family. Choose activities to your taste,
register, and make this winter holiday unforgettable.
The main New Year's premiere at the National Centre RUSSIA
is the original multi-genre performance "Morozko" — a touching and
instructive story about the importance of family warmth and mutual
understanding, which premiered on 27 December. The main feature of the
production is its multi-genre nature: the performance successfully combines
ballet, opera, folk, and artistic choreography. The colourful show features
leading ballet dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre and the "Kremlin
Ballet", soloists from the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow
Academic Music Theatre, actors from the State Academic Vakhtangov Theatre and
the "By the Nikitsky Gates" Theatre, the Russian National Ballet
"Kostroma", the folk group "Buranovskiye Babushki", and the
country's leading Baba Yaga, BABA YAGA (BY).
Partners of the National Centre RUSSIA — the Movement of the
First — will help create a special festive atmosphere during the performance
days. From 10:30 to 11:30, they will run a workshop on creating a New Year
wreath, as well as a creative workshop on decorating a transparent Christmas
tree bauble, in the concert hall foyer. It will be possible to take all
handmade items home as a decoration or a gift for loved ones. Furthermore, in
collaboration with the Movement of the First, sweet gifts for young audiences
have been prepared. During the New Year holidays, performances will be held
daily from 6 to 11 January from 12:00 to 13:30. An additional performance will
be held on 14 January.
While the whole country is having a rest after celebrating
the New Year, guests of the National Centre RUSSIA will also have a chance to
participate in creative lessons for the whole family. On 6 January, at a workshop on candle painting, the instructor will talk about the origins of
decorative painting and share unique techniques to turn a simple candle into an
exquisite decorative object. A series of creative lessons will be held at the
venue of the "Book of Fairytales" exposition at 16:00 and 17:00.
Daily from 7 to 11 January, from 16:00 to 16:40, a workshop on creating a New Year fabric toy will be held at the "Book of
Fairytales" exposition. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, guests
will be able to sew and decorate a doll based on images from Russian folk
tales. Participants will receive all necessary materials and tools, get
acquainted with traditional folk handicraft techniques, and learn to create
bright and expressive images of fairytale characters, imbuing them with warmth,
magic, and individuality.
At the "Book of Fairytales" exposition, from 6 to
11 January between 12:30 and 14:00, theatrical kolyadki (Carols) celebrations titled "A Fairytale Path" will take place. In the format of a group
interactive tour, children and adults will not only learn more about the
culture and New Year traditions in different corners of Russia but will also
become participants in the action themselves.
The project's goal is to restore the cultural tradition, uniting Russians around the unique cultural phenomenon of kolyadki from a young age.
Folkloric heroes from eight regions participating in the
exposition will act as guides on the path to adventure. Each stop on the route
will offer many discoveries and impressions, and in the finale, participants
will receive commemorative gifts.
The National Centre RUSSIA is a large-scale ecosystem of
quality leisure for the whole family, created with warmth, love, and attention
to detail. All events are offered free of charge, and require pre-registration
on the website russia.ru. For the current schedule, please see the "Events"
section.
This unique project, implemented in the format of an interactive tour, invites children to embark on an unforgettable journey across the regions of the country.
On 6 January, a showing of the multi-genre performance "Morozko" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA. It was held for guests and veterans of the special military operation who participate.
The touching event took place as part of the nationwide "New Year Tree of Wishes" campaign.
