New Year tree of the Krasnodar region: a whole field of sunflowers and embroidery in stained glass windows
The
sunflower - an amazing flower, a symbol of vitality and strength - has long
been a symbol of Kuban. Sunshine, bright sunflowers, cheerfulness and
hospitality - craftsmen from the Krasnodar region put all their love for their
native land into the decoration of the New Year tree at VDNH.
Especially for the fir tree they have made stained glass from plexiglass, which frame the artistic painting and embroidery with local traditional ornaments. Embroidery in Kuban has long been the most widespread type of folk art.
Cross embroidery
technique was widely used and became a recognizable style of the southern
lands. It was used to decorate clothes, rushniki towels, table cloths, pillows,
napkins.
One of the favorite images of folk art in Kuban was a bird - most often these are images of pigeons and roosters. In folk art, a pair of birds is a symbol of love and happiness.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by 89 New Year trees, each of them representing a region of the country. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day. All expositions and events are free of charge.
The National Centre RUSSIA hosted workshops organised by the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.
