Pskov region
The territory of the region belongs to the most ancient lands of the Russian state. Here Alexander Nevsky became a military commander, Pushkin lived and was buried here, and Nicholas II abdicated the throne of the Russian Empire. Historically, the Pskov region is in many ways the “beginning” of Russia. Both geographically, as the main western outpost of the country, and from the point of view of faith, as the “cradle” of Russian Orthodoxy.
The Pskov region is part of the Northwestern Federal District of the Russian Federation and has a unique geopolitical position.
