This year marks 370 anniversary of the accession of the Zabaykalsky region to Russia. Following the instructions of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, the Cossack pioneers reached the Chinese borders, “with kindness and greetings” inclining the local population to Russian citizenship. Zabaykalye gave Russia access to China, the first Russian silver, a springboard for the development of the Far East and many of Russia's best sons.
