103 years of courage: Stalingrad Battle participant Kirill Semyonov celebrates his birthday
Today, Great Patriotic War veteran Kirill Alexandrovich
Semyonov, one of the last surviving participants in the battles fought by the
62nd Army under the command of Vasily Chuikov in Stalingrad, celebrates his
103rd birthday.
Kirill Alexandrovich was seriously wounded on Mamayev
Kurgan, but was able to return to the ranks and continue the fight against
Nazism. In spring 1945, he was wounded again in the battles to liberate Poland,
and marked Victory Day in hospital.
Despite his age, Kirill Alexandrovich continues to take an
active part in patriotic projects and meetings with young people, helping to
preserve historical memory and pass it on to new generations. This year, the
veteran took part in the National Centre RUSSIA project "Soldiers’ Dreams" and handed over a copy of the Victory Banner to new generations of
defenders.
We wish Kirill Alexandrovich good health, strength, the
warmth of his loved ones and peaceful skies. Thank you for your courage,
resilience and feat, which will forever remain part of our country’s history.
More than 100 volunteers received awards for their special contribution to the development and organisation of the space.
