The National Centre RUSSIA to host the Platform Economy Day on November 11
Digital platforms and ecosystems belonging to them have
become a new effective tool of the global economy today, going far beyond the
role of an intermediary for an unlimited number of dialogue participants.
Speaking at the SPIEF 2025 plenary session, President of the
Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted that the transition to a new
technological order is based on digital platforms, artificial intelligence and
autonomous systems capable of making decisions even without human intervention.
"Unlike most countries that depend on global platforms,
Russia has good examples of its own successful electronic platforms. This is a
real, significant achievement of the domestic business, which, of course, we
can be proud of. We are going to keep on providing conditions under which
Russian digital platforms will develop and compete with international
giants," he said.
Speaking at SPIEF 2025, Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of
Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, said: "Digital
platforms, unlike traditional businesses, do not increase internal transaction
costs in parallel with business scaling. With them, the state of affairs is
exactly the opposite. The larger the platform, the more efficient it is. In
this sense, platforms go as a new planned economy, but they are led not by
human institutions, but by algorithms."
During the Platform Economy Day, experts will consider the
potential of the digital platforms and their role in ensuring sustainable
growth and improving business conditions, such as: opportunities to enter new
markets, scaling sales, and relevant tools to support regional brands.
The attendees will also discuss the importance of
integrating platform solutions into the public procurement process. This will
reduce transaction costs, simplify logistics, shorten delivery times,
facilitate access to suppliers, eliminate intermediaries, and increase
competition.
The digital platforms and ecosystems belonging to them are
becoming both an integral part of citizens' daily lives, and an important tool
for the socio-economic development of the country. Experts will talk about how
new digital ecosystems help improve the quality of human life, stimulate
business activity, create new jobs, and strengthen the ties among business,
government, and society.
In addition, there will be discussed approaches to the new
national model of trading activity in the context of the platform economy
development. This model is being worked out on behalf of the President of the
Russian Federation. The issues of eliminating the imbalance existing in the
conditions of simultaneous functioning of both the traditional format of stores
and online commerce, via the transition to platform technologies and
ecosystems, will also be addressed.
The highlight of the Platform Economy Day will be the
signing of the Good Practices Memorandum for Digital Platforms by
representatives of Russia's largest digital platforms. The document is intended
to enshrine the voluntary commitment to early fulfilling certain requirements
of the Federal Law "On Certain Aspects of Regulating the Platform Economy
in the Russian Federation", as well as additional obligations. In
particular, it will help support Russian manufacturers and develop
communication with partners and consumers, support anti-fraud mechanisms, personal
data protection, and the fight against counterfeit products.
An expert session of the Open Dialogue "The Future of
the World. A New Platform for Global Growth" will also be held there. At the session, the experts from India,
China, Brazil, Rwanda, Russia and other countries of the world will discuss how
platform models increase the efficiency of interaction, change the structure of
the economy, increase productivity, and stimulate innovation.
The programme of the Day will conclude with a meeting of the interdepartmental working group dealing with the development of digital economy ecosystems and digital platforms, established by Presidential Decree No. 325-rp, dated 14 October 2024. The working group will address issues of economic platformisation, as well as a number of other questions.
The organisers of the Platform Economy Day are the the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the National Centre RUSSIA, and the Corporation VEB.RF.
From 1 to 30 November, the Days of the Far Eastern Regions will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The less time it takes to travel, the better the country's economy and a person's financial situation.
On 28 October, the expert discussion "The Role of Youth in the Construction Industry" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
