25 reasons for pride: "Sputnik V" — a scientific breakthrough for Russia
We continue
our special project "25 Reasons for Pride," dedicated to the 25th
anniversary of the first inauguration of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. This
date marked the beginning of a new era — a time when Russia set a course for
sovereignty, scientific advancement, and the protection of every citizen’s
life.
One of these reasons is the world's first registered vaccine against COVID-19 — "Sputnik V."
The vaccine was developed by the N.F. Gamaleya National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology on the instruction of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
The drug received international recognition and was approved for use in more than 70 countries, including India, Iran, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, and the UAE.
The vaccine's efficacy exceeded 91%, and its use saved millions of lives both in Russia and beyond.
Russia launched a mass vaccination campaign across the country while ensuring free access to the vaccine for its citizens.
"Sputnik
V" became the foundation for an entire family of vaccines, including
"Sputnik Light" and the adolescent vaccine "Sputnik M."
The lecture "Russian Architecture in the Global Context" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on May 30.
