Karelia Day to be celebrated at the RUSSIA EXPO on June 8

In Moscow, at the RUSSIA EXPO on June 8, Karelia Republic Day will be celebrated with a festive program. On the Main Stage, from 14:00 to 19:00, the "Sampo Mill" festival will take place. Visitors to the Exposition will enjoy performances by the national song and dance ensemble of Karelia "Kantele" and other artists. The event is financially supported by the Moscow government.

At the region's stand in Pavilion No. 75 at VDNH, there will be two drawings for tourist trips to our republic, from 11:00 to 11:30 and from 15:00 to 15:30. Another drawing will take place on the Main Stage during the "Sampo Mill" festival, scheduled for 18:00. Coupons for participation can be obtained at the Karelia stand after the second drawing.

Throughout the day at the republic's stand, a flash mob called "June 8th - In Everyone's Life" will be held. Participants who celebrate an important event on this day - such as a birth, wedding, engagement, or other—will receive gifts. To receive them, any documentary proof of the significance of June 8 in their life, such as a passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, educational document, etc., is sufficient.

For handicraft enthusiasts, a masterclass on making Karelian dolls will be held at the republic's stand from 12:00 to 13:00. Additionally, concert programs by the "Kantele" ensemble orchestra and the vocal group "Aino" will be presented at the stand from 14:15 to 14:45 and from 16:30 to 17:00.

Traditionally, the celebration of the Republic's Day in Karelia is held annually in different municipalities at the end of summer, so cities and towns can prepare well for the festivities with the financial support of the regional government. This year, the republic's day celebration will take place in the Segezha district on August 24.

Every year on June 8, the date of the establishment of our republic is commemorated. On this day in 1920, the Karelian Labor Commune - a regional autonomous association within the RSFSR - was created.
