Aidar Shaydullin: "Morozko is the best production in Moscow"

The multi-genre performance "Morozko", whose showings began at the National Centre RUSSIA on 27 December, has impressed not only audiences but also the artists themselves, as well as everyone involved in organising and preparing the country's main New Year premiere. This unusual creative synthesis was described by Aidar Shaydullin, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the "Soul of Dance" and "National Treasure" awards.

"This production brings together a huge pool of the highest-level artists from different genres. These include dramatic actors from leading theatres, ballet stars — including principal dancers and ballerinas from the Bolshoi Theatre — and unique folk ensembles. We combined tradition with modernity, to bring, first of all, joy to children, who are our future," said Aidar Shaydullin.

According to the artist, the main strength of the performance lies in its core meaning and the powerful sense of pride for the country and its cultural heritage that it gives to every spectator.

"We are proud of our country and our traditional national art, which is why the performance 'Morozko' represents such an amazing synthesis of genres. Furthermore, its storyline itself carries immense educational character and potential. Therefore, I hope that people will watch this performance with great pleasure and remember it for a lifetime. The performance "Morozko" has become the main New Year premiere of the National Centre RUSSIA. The production, based on the beloved Russian fairy tale, unites tradition and modernity, drawing on the classic structure of a fairy tale as described by Vladimir Propp. "Morozko" tells the touching story of a family that has lost warmth and unity in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Through the journey of the girl named Nastenka into a fairy-tale world, and the trials undergone by her loved ones, the performance reminds the audience of the importance of family traditions, love, kindness, and respect between generations.

The concept of "Morozko" belongs to Bolshoi Theatre principal dancer Igor Tsvirko. The main feature of the production is its multi-genre nature: it successfully combines ballet, opera, folk music, and artistic choreography.

Showings of the original multi-genre performance "Morozko" are taking place at the National Centre RUSSIA as part of the "New Year Russia" project. The production premiered on 27 December 2025. Subsequent showings will take place on 30 December, and then from 6 to 11, and on 14 January 2026. Attendance is free of charge.
