Artyom Drabkin invites everyone to the Lecture Hall at the National Centre RUSSIA
Every day we pay for purchases with a single tap. But do you know how a bank card works and why the "Mir" (a word meaning "world" and "peace" in Russian) card got exactly that name? Artyom Drabkin, Director of the "I Remember" Foundation and a member of the scientific council of the Russian Military Historical Society, invites you to find out.
"I think everyone has a 'Mir' card in their wallet and uses it freely every day without asking themselves how it works. Although it would be interesting to learn that this chip on the plastic is a computer with software written into it that switches on when you bring the card to a terminal. How was the name 'Mir' born? Why is the card called exactly that? That is what we will be talking about," invites Artyom Drabkin.
At the National Centre RUSSIA, together with one of the creators of the "Mir" card, Vladimir Komlev, and a representative of the Bank of Russia, Alla Bakina, we will talk about how the Russian payment system came about and what the future holds for the payments we are used to.
