What Russia and China have in common: new episode of "The Nature of Values" podcast
Why do family interests sometimes take precedence over
individual interests in China? Is it true that harmony and order are valued
more highly than self-expression? And how has the country managed to preserve
centuries-old traditions while becoming one of the world's leading technology
powers? Host Alexei Slushchev and China expert Nikolai Vavilov explore the
values underpinning Chinese society, what our cultures have in common and how
our views of life differ.
"The Nature of Values" is a series of podcast interviews exploring
how human and cultural values emerged and evolved, and why they need to be
protected. The project combines expert discussions with first-person stand-up
storytelling, inviting viewers to seek answers together and encouraging independent
critical thinking. It is supported by the National Centre RUSSIA and the
Internet Development Institute (IRI).
