Architecture as a language of dialogue: ideas from four continents meet at the National Centre RUSSIA
Global challenges facing the architectural community will be a central topic in the panel discussions on the final day of "The Birth of Scale" exposition. On July 30, the National Centre RUSSIA will host the ceremonial closing of the architectural exposition.
Architects from four continents, who have already familiarised themselves with the National Centre’s exposition "Journey Across Russia," will participate in the closing’s business programme. The guests highly appreciated the richness of Russia’s architectural legacy and contemporary achievements.
The honoured participants include:
- Walid Arafa (Egypt), founder and director of Dar Arafa Architecture;
- Rajendra Kumar (India), director of the School of Architecture and Design at Lovely Professional University;
- Nadia Tromp (South Africa), founder and director of Ntsika Architects;
- Alireza Tagaboni (Iran), architect and founder of Next Office.
Nadia Tromp shared her vision of current trends in architecture:
"Today, sustainable development is the top priority for architects worldwide. As we increasingly adopt artificial intelligence and automation, the role of the architect becomes even more important. I would say we are moving back from craft to art — to the necessity of thinking about beauty and meaning. The architect’s role is changing: now they do not just design, but propose a vision — creating an image of the future."
The architect also commented on her impressions of the Russian capital:
"I expected to see mostly historic buildings — after all, I am an architect, and my main professional interest lies in traditional architecture. But I was amazed by how modern and dynamic Moscow is, with many new and interesting constructions. I believe that as we move forward, it is very important not to forget the past — to understand how traditional building methods and indigenous knowledge can be integrated into modern architectural practices. This topic interests me greatly."
These and other pressing issues will be discussed in detail during the panel discussions on the exposition’s final day.
Since its opening on March 1, "The Birth of Scale" has welcomed tens of thousands of guests — from members of the international architectural community to students and art enthusiasts. The exposition has become a unique platform for professional exchange and the emergence of new collaborations.
"The Birth of Scale" exposition has clearly demonstrated that architecture speaks a universal language, understood by both professionals and the wider public. Its closing on July 30 will not be an end, but a new starting point for international architectural dialogue.
Visits to the tours of "The Birth of Scale" are available until 15:00 on July 30 by prior registration on the National Centre RUSSIA website. Detailed information about the programme for the exposition’s closing day can be found in the "Events" section.
