"Architecture as a symbol of the country": international architects were presented with the model of the new building of the National Centre RUSSIA
International
architects were introduced to the design of the new building of the National
Centre RUSSIA on July 30 during the panel discussion "Architecture of the Future: Trends and Forecasts for 2050." The meeting opened the business
programme of the final day of the "The Birth of Scale" exposition.
Leading specialists discussed key trends and the prospects for the development
of architecture in Russia and across the world.
The concept
of the future complex was presented by co-founder and chief architect of the
ATRIUM bureau Anton Nadtochiy:
"We
faced a complex task — to create a building that would symbolise the entire
country. The National Centre will be an urban space permanently accessible to
the public. At the heart of our design is a public square, connected to a park
and at the same time opening onto the river and the city. This open-air area
will host events throughout the year — in winter there could be an ice rink, in
summer performances and shows. A media roof will be built above, capable of displaying
projected content."
The
architect emphasised that the new building of the National Centre RUSSIA on the
Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment will embody the collective image of the country
with its national characteristics. Engineering surveys and preparatory works
are already under way at the site. The project is scheduled for completion in 2029.
The model
of the future building was unveiled on July 7 with the participation of First
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia Sergei
Kiriyenko and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. It is on display in the foyer of
the concert hall (Pavilion No. 3, first floor) of the National Centre RUSSIA
daily, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 20:00.
"The
Birth of Scale" exposition became a landmark event for both the cultural
and professional communities, bringing together leading architects, designers,
engineers and students. Over the course of the exposition, thousands of
visitors explored the evolution of Russian architecture — from traditional
wooden craftsmanship to modern urban planning solutions. Each model told a
unique story of bold engineering, aesthetic excellence and the pursuit of new
heights.
The final
day’s programme continued with the panel discussion "International Architectural Expositions: Relevance, Challenges, Objectives," and the
official closing ceremony will begin at 18:00. More information is available in
the "Events" section of the official website of the National Centre
RUSSIA.
